Episode 105: My Mommy & Daddy Won't Let Me

Jul 04, 2005 23:42

It was such a treat to have 3 days off for the long weekend.  The 72 hours went by very quickly.  It's only appropriate that it did because of the old saying, "time flies when you're having fun."   What would a holiday weekend be without good food to eat?  Friday's dinner was Italian at a new place (for me) in Cerritos.  Saturday was a big reunion of friends at Johnny Rebs' for some good Southern cookin'.  There was a table of 10 of us scarfing away at catfish, sausages, chicken, and fried green tomatoes.  It was followed by a late game night at Matt & Adam's where my team won the round of Taboo.  Sunday was a poolside BBQ at Dawn & Columba's followed by a long and funny conversation around the jacuzzi.  And finally, Monday was another poolside BBQ at David's home.  I am still full from it.  Tomorrow it's back to work, but I decided to take a half day tomorrow so I could take my car to get the smog check.  I'm glad I got to see a lot of friends this weekend.  I even got in touch with Maiko, who is now 10 weeks pregnant and engaged.  My, oh my!  How we grow up!

So now it seems that the official vacationing season begins.  My uncle and his family will be staying with us for about two weeks starting this Wednesday.  This should be interesting.  They do not know that I am gay.  I don't mind telling them.  The only thing that is stopping me is the promise I made with my dad when I came out 6 years ago.  It stays in the immediate family.  I sense a lot of answering "I don't know" to their question of why don't I have a girlfriend yet.  I guess I could try and say that my mommy and daddy won't let me have one. :)
