[Bobby's just going to give the journal a confused look.]
Right, so...did someone hit the magic disappearing handcuffs button? Or did whoever was behind this -
[Deior, but he'll leave it open, just in case.]- decide that whatever they were trying to do with this was done, and we can all go back to having two hands now

[There's light laughter in her eyes.]
Must have been fun.

Hanging out with Xanth is always fun. Being handcuffed to him was no exception. Okay, except for the awkward part. That was less fun.
How'd you fair in this?
Reply
One awkward part? Dare I even ask?
I was remarkably okay, actually. I had quite a few friends warn me what was going on, so I stayed in my room and tried to talk to people and see how things were going.
[Yeah, Derek ended up cuffed to someone as a wolf, but it could have been worse.]
Reply
[He's not going to expand on that, Chloe, that's all you get.]
Oh, man, lucky you. I was outside when the handcuffs appeared, so we were cuffed before we even knew it was a Keep wide thing.
Reply
Good thing I missed that part of it, then.
[She doesn't need more expanding. She understands you Bobby. Could have been worse?]
Guess I must have been. Hopefully not too many fights broke out.

[He shakes his head.]
I didn't hear of any. I guess none of the really volatile people got handcuffed to ones that they didn't mesh well with.
Reply
Yeah, well... this time he' the one who went off and got into trouble.
[A soft sigh of relief.]
That's good to hear. Sometimes I wonder if--
[No. Don't go there, Chloe. A forced laugh.]
Never mind. So what have you been up to? Eating all your vegetables?
Reply
...okay, I want to ask for the story, but I'm worried he might punch me or something if you tell me.
[He frowns at her cutting off there.]
Of course not. I never eat my vegetables. You wonder if what? Is everything okay, Clo?
Reply
You know, he might be tempted to. Let's leave it at that.
[The grin hasn't diminished, and she's glad Bobby was able to make her feel this way. Laughing was good for her.]
You know, I wondered. With all your talent and making ice cream, I doubt frozen vegetables sound good.
[She winces. Yeah, he caught her there. He was too observant. Like Derek.]
Everything is fine, Bobby. It's just--we're still here, aren't we? We'll get out sooner or later. We're a pretty good bunch, as far as I can tell.
[Chloe just wished it would be sooner, rather than later. She felt they already had enough trials to contend with. The hand-cuffs weren't bad, but she wasn't looking forward to more. She had a feeling there'd be more casualties.]
Reply
Yeah, my curiosity's not strong enough to risk the chance of getting punched.
[He nods.]
Ice cream wins over frozen vegetables every time.
[At her wince, though, Bobby sobers slightly, listening to what she has to say.]
Oh. Yeah, I know what you mean. But yeah, we will get out. We can't give up hope of that.
Reply
I think that's a good thing.
[Another light laugh and head shake.]
Save some of the good stuff for the rest of us.
[She's teasing, though. Then she grows more sober at his next words.]
I agree. I'm thinking of poking around again. Soon. Something needs to happen, and I don't like being here so long without any new answers.
Reply
[He grins at her.]
Of course. You want ice cream, all you have to do is say so.
[Bobby turns more serious at that, as well.]
Just be careful, Chlo. It's not a good idea to start poking into things without thinking it through just because you're getting antsy.
Reply
Hmm. And if I say I want some now?
[She's teasing--a little. She really would appreciate a sweet treat, and the easy companionship Bobby would bring with it.]
You sound like Derek. Except he'd use less words and probably start with the word 'no.' If I think it over too much, time will pass and nothing will get done.
Reply
Then it's all yours.
[Hey, look. Finally something Bobby and Derek sort of agree on.]
Yeah, I know how you feel. Doing nothing sucks. But like I said, just be careful? Promise me you won't go off and do anything alone?
Reply
Really?
[She grins.]
I do share, you know.
[Then her expression turns solemn, and she hesitates.]
I can promise I'll be careful, Bobby. I--I don't know if I can promise not to go off on my own.
[She bites her lip. It's not that she wants to go do things by herself, but she didn't know what the future would hold here, and she might need to go off to help someone--or even help herself. A sigh, followed by a slightly wry smile.]
I can promise to try my best not to do anything stupid.
Reply
Really. I can be over there in a few minutes, if you want.
[He hesitates at that, giving a bit of a grimace.]
Yeah. I know. Things come up that you can't always expect. Just don't go looking for trouble alone when you don't need to, okay?
