and therefore I see more flaws than average audience members, but I don't see why Juno is getting the praise it is getting. It makes me mad that it is being considered for an Oscar when there are so many more deserving great films out there.
The drama seemed focused on the wrong areas and the film overall demonstrated ignorance and poor direction. If the intent to make a pregnant teen unrealistically accepted in society in hopes of that being one of the grounds for it's humor, then I'm simply no fan of the writer and director. I felt some of the one liners were only written for the audience and were not relevant to the film. It was good at making teenage pregnancy entertaining, yet didn't seem to get a message out. Aside from the acting which I thought was very good, I thought the movie had a lot of potential and it simply failed to reach it. I don't want to see it anywhere at any awards show.
This seems to be one of those films where if you don't like it, you'll lose friends. I'm looking at you English Patient (thanks Seinfeld).
