I knew a girl with daisies growing on her head,
Her hair was like the summer, but her eyes were cold and dead,
And now she's gone, and she took my freedom with her

She stood outside my doorway, knocking like a war,
The next thing I remember, I was dead there on the floor,
And she was gone, and she took my freedom with her,

But right then I remembered what you said that you would be,
That even when I'm dead you'd be the life inside of me,
And only once the sound of my own heart had ceased to beat,
It was then that you could breathe the breath of life back into me, and set me free.

As I child you found me and I lived inside your love,
But innocence deserted me and I wound up all undone,
And now I'm lost and I took my freedom from me,

Everything you told me, I made it all go wrong,
Indifference became me and betrayal wrote my song,
And now I'm lost, and I took my freedom from me.

But right then I remembered what you said that you would be,
That even when I'm dead you'd be the life inside of me,
And only once the sound of my own heart had ceased to beat,
It was then that you could breathe the breath of life back into me.

My heart's fallen from your tree,
And its severed on the ground,
Scared to beat another beat,
For fear of wearing out,
But thats exactly what i need,
Is a cardiac arrest,
To show this dry and brittle heart,
That to beat another beat would be the death of me...

But right then I remembered what you said that you would be,
That even when I'm dead you'd be the life inside of me,
And only once the sound of my own heart had ceased to beat
It was then that you could breathe the breath of life back into me, and set me free.
