TWO: but When He Smiled Differently to the Other Unnies

Seo Joohyun was beginning to feel uneasy with the fact that she is not the most beautiful girl in SM Town.

But not for the usual reason a girl would do. No, she was not jealous to anyone. And no, she was not thinking she would be the queenkas of SM Town. The only reason for her uneasiness was only when it related to the facts that Kyuhyun seemed to have different types of smile directed to different girls.

Days after they finished the MV shooting, Seohyun had a new habits. Secretly glanced into Kyuhyun while he was smiling ... to the other unnies. She was so sure that he was smiling differently to Qian, Yoona, Sica, and herself. While Qian's was bashful, Yoona's was playful, and Sica's was cheeky, hers was a soft and small smirk, like he was not really planning to smile to her. Like he wanted to but then decided not to in the last minutes. She surely not showed her disappointment in front of him, but on those days, she spent more times on watching her reflection in the mirror. Wondering what was that Oppa did not like on her so he kind of cancelling his smile for her.

Her new routines in front of the mirror was finally being noticed by Yoona and Hyoyeon, who mentioned it to Yuri, which the latter told Tiffany in an effort to understand what happened. Everybody knew that when Yoona was the one who spent the most time with Seohyun, Tiffany was the one she went when she needed a mother shoulder to cry on.

"I am okay Unnie, I just wondering how I look if I apply makeup.", said the shy maknae, "would you teach me?". While it was not entirely a lie, a clever girl that she was, what Seohyun want to know was if she became beautiful, Kyuhyun would start smiling a big smile for her. Tiffany, not fully believe what she said, choose to ignore the fact that Seohyun was partly lying. She was smart enough to know that a debate with this calm but strong-willed girl would not lead her to any truth. And while she was not agreed with Seohyun (since she thought Seohyun was gorgeous the way she was) she gathered Yuri, Sooyoung and Sunny to help transform the little swan to a goddess that she deserved to know herself. Their little party becomes merrier when the others joined later in a celebration on the comeback of a merry maknae.

So when Kyuhyun met her in Asia Song Fest, she so sure that he thought of her differently, that he looked at her differently. She took in her pride everytime she saw him stealing a glance at her. She even witnessed the usual evil maknae took a wrong step and clumsily moved when he realized he was too close to her.

Yet she still recognizes the different smile he sent to Sica-Unnie. But this time, she took no pity to herself and instead asked Sica how come she could make a sometimes scary but funky Heechul-Oppa to an obedient servant when it was time to make Sica happy. "It was the art of playing cool, Hyun, you can only do enough to keep him with you." Not really knowing what Sica meant by that, she turned to Yuri who she knew had lots of suitors, "You need to learn how to switch between cold and hot actions, Hyun-ah. You could be sexy without over do it."

So in the end, she went back to Tiffany (who could only shook her head on the stupid advise her other dongsaengs told Seohyun) as she could not comprehend these cryptic messages her Unnies told her.

The next time their paths crossed, SUJU and SNSD were in a dance battle for a music show. She was surprised to see Kyuhyun becoming one of the lead dancer. Everybody in SM Town knew what a disaster the Dancing Kyu used to be. And while she was giddy because he was stunned when he saw her dance sexily, she could not but wonder which Unnies that taught him the moves.

But at that time, instead of going into her shell as she used to be a year ago, she was determined to show him that she could compete with those Unnies too.

not the most beautiful girl, fictions, memory lane
