So initially I planned to post in depth menaing of life look at my intelectualism reviews of books, until I realised it would take me all night to do that. So instead, here's a list of stuff I've read recently (these last two months or so) and short bursts of reaction.

No Spoilers Be Herein )

The trash talk is for the entire Divergent series, and I sort of doubt its entertainment/information value, but there are gifs! XD

As for FioS, I kind of think a lot of people have this talk-to-the-hand reaction to deliberate tear jerkers, be they movies or books, simply out of feeling contrary, so I, for one, don't see anything wrong with it.

Ah, GoT. The problem is, I have a little group, i.e. two students, and one of them is an HBO series fan who really advocated reading the book, and the other is the fantasy hater. He agreed to try ASOIAF because both of us familiar with it were very vocal about it being different from what he imagined as 'fantasy', and, you know, ~dark and edgy~. He manfully suffered through the first couple of chapters and gave up; the other guy is slowly plowing through it as far as I know, but he's a very on-off reader, so we barely ever discuss it and I gave up on the reread. The fantasy hater is very diligent with books he sort of likes or really likes, though, so we're making good progress with whatever we pick that's interesting to him. I let him determine the pace because I read more and faster, so it's easier for me to adjust to him than vice versa. What happened with Cuckoo's Calling (and now with Silkworm), is I finish the 50-odd pages he designated for the week pretty much the same evening after class, and then I'm just sitting there like, "Oh, that's it then?" XD

Sorry for being unavailable! I got caught up in various stuff, and I see that you've been busy as well. My work seems to have let up a bit, thanks :) Hopefully it stays that way. I'll probably be free this weekend in the evenings, so maybe then, if you also have time :)

Yeah, its weird how ppl who've never read fantasy seem to view it. I recomended ASOIAF to a friend and she read them on her breaks at work but her co workers made fun of her when she told them it had magic and dragon - until she gave the first one to her boss. He had nightmares after all the incest, poor sod. I used to experience the same thing with Anime, namely ppl who hadn't seen it thinking animes were for kids, like children's cartoons. I'd like to see them try Van Hellsing. XD

No matter the pace or dedication of your students, i still count it as a plus that reading books is part of work. That's the dream! That's also why i loved teaching so much. I had to quit because "real job" was demanding too much of my time (partly why i've been so bleh recently).

I totally understand being unavailable, and there's no rush. This weekend sounds great. I haven't watched Hum Tum in a while too so it would be nice to rewatch it. :-)
