How I loved Rent in 1996....
Happy Valentine's Day all.
I am without Valentine and am planning NOT to fall back into the bad habit of hanging out with Chris (keep in mind I decided to break this habit Saturday... after his temper tantrum on how I never wanted it to work... and that I never paid attention to anyone's feelings... and he threw a computer keyboard at the wall...) so I'm feeling a little-- I guess 'weird' is the only word to describe it. So I come into work and on my chair is an original poster from the Bway production of RENT with the original cast signatures. Hello my high school wet dream!! My friend Tanya used to work at La Jolla Playhouse in San Diego where Michael Greif (the director of Rent) was artistic director for a season in the late 90s. La Jolla was also the first non-Bway theatre to get the rights to Rent because of him and they had all these autographed posters lying around for years to give to donors. She snagged 2 a couple years ago and said she only needed 1. Isn't that the best Valentine's pressie ever? Nostalgia and girl power all in one.
