lovely, bloody trip to bashas

Oct 31, 2004 02:04

Just got back from the ER. Christina got 4 stitches. We were at Bashas doing some grocery shopping. I was wrapping it up and kids were looking at Halloween stuff... Ez and Jas come running up about Christina. I'm like what? then I see her walking towards me gingerly with a little blood dripping down her leg. I told her to stand right there and I would got get a rag/bandaid something etc. I go there was a long line only one person appeared to be working in store. He handed me the dirty rag under his register then thought twice about it and went in the office and got me a small first aid kit. The people in line looked annoyed. I ran back to Christina, opened the kit - there were a couple bandaids and cleaning swabs... but.... when I looked at her leg.... her shoes were full of blood and there was a puddle the size of a salad plate on the floor. I freaked and yelled for help no one came. I hadnt wanted her to follow me to the front because I didnt want to leave a trail of blood on their floor to have to clean up... SO... I told Ezra to take his shirt of and give it to me - he was embarassed but did. I tied it around her knee where the blood was running out and was going to carry her to the front of the store. She insisted on walking. Finally another guy came out who worked there and called 9-1-1. While waiting for the paramedics the shirt was soaking through so I had her lay on the supermarket floor and put her leg up an my shoulder while I applied pressure to her knee. The employee also brought me an apron to tie around it to help stop the blood flow. Jas and Ez went to the bathroom and got wet paper towels to wash the blood off her legs and feet so by the time EMT got there she was cleaned up and the removed shirt and bleeding had stopped. They wrapped and said take her to ER for stitches. THen she went hysterical!! "I DONT WANT STITCHES!" so we convinced her they would just glue it instead. so YEP Pat came and got Jas and Ez so I took Tina to the same hospital Dad is at (they remembered him!) and she freaked when the guy said they were going to put in stitches... so he was like how about we just do "sutures" instead... so Christina ended up with 4 "sutures"... Tuck was the only one up when we got home (he'd gone to a wrestling camp at ASU last night and tonight and got Rulan? Gardner's autograph and got to see a real olympic gold medal!) He was like what's a suture? so I whispered to him it's the medical term for stitches and he was laughing so hard. Said we will have to tell Tina in a year or so that she had stitches!!

Boy, what fun. I am wiped. Glad she's okay. Glad Dad is going to be okay. Mom said he was being a stinker tonight. Told her I'm sure he was just getting irritable because he wants to go home and sleep in his own bed. He has the stress test tomorrow and they should release him in the afternoon.
