It's officially been seasons since my last post.
Things are good - albeit crazy on our end. Here's the short version:
-I worked liked crazy amid state and city budget cuts. I managed to keep layoffs low and was rewarded with a nice raise. Party.
-Oliver landed the job of a lifetime - he was the lead structural engineer for the sound stage for the U2 360 world tour. He spent about 5 weeks in Europe as a roadie. We've been under a press embargo for the last few months since the band did not want the details of their video screen to leak out. It's a 360 degree HD resolution screen that not only moves - it expands to 12 stories. The tour kicked off in Barcelona to rave reviews.
-Oliver made quite the name for himself and actually found a little home for himself in this niche market. He's already been booked to work the next world tour of a big name that I'm not allowed to talk about. This is a lesson for dorks everywhere - being good at math and physics can pay off big time.
-And the fun part - we're heading to Paris for 5 days to see the concert, backstage passes, and attend the crew party thrown by the band as a thank you.
-We're getting married in less than three months! We're down to the final details, but it's crazy since our careers have side tracked us a bit from wedding planning. So, we're playing a bit of catch up. (My shower is in a few weeks and we just finished registering this morning. Ah!)
-Our initial honeymoon plans fell through. We were all set to go to Thailand when our travel agent told us that it's monsoon season, which is Thai for "lots of f-ing rain." So, we're off to Hawaii for two weeks. We're both excited.
So, things are good. We're happy (but tired). :)
