LOVED that you had Kate actually "sort of" dating Castle. I was kinda hoping you would so that made me squee a little. Poor Castle, he went the way of Josh in this AU. :P
I think my favourite part was the birthday at Kate's apartment. I love how you managed to turn a scene between two characters who have barely had an episode's worth of screentime together into something so touching and heartbreaking. The And then this:
But in the morning she wakes alone. The worst thing is, she's not even surprised.
So painful, but so good.
I totally thought Beckett driving the getaway car was gonna be the beginning of their happy ending, so when she disappeared in the other car I was like, NOOOOOOOOOO. But LOVED the twist of Kate making Serena chase her and the ACTUAL ending was the sweetest thing ever. Serena reaches for Kate's hand and grips it tightly. “You could have had me any time. I was just waiting for you to ask.” Seriously, AWWWWWWWWW. Serena, you big softie.
I love your last line. It's a little glimpse into the relationship between Ryan, Esposito and Beckett, which I love on the show, so I love that it was in this AU as well. "Affectionately." Aww.
Once again, this was just PERFECT. ♥ Thanks for taking one for the team! Otherwise this fantasy would have stayed forever inside our heads and eventually died forgotten. :DDDDD

OMG I'm so glad you were hoping for that! Ha. I just wanted to put as many little references in there to tie it to the Castle universe we know. But yeah, he totally got shafted lol. And same with Ryan and Esposito, it felt important to have them there even if it was just a little bit.
Btw, did you spot the references to Kate's hair being in a bun? LOL

I totally did, hahaha. I especially loved how you pointedly stated that Serena thought it looked so sexy. Well played. :P (But in the rest of the fic she had her hair down in my head because I was too busy flailing at all the lady-kissing that I didn't even think about it. Hee.)
