The Many Adventures of Saki

Part One: The Mighty Huntress
Last night my cat Saki caught a bird. And by "last night" I mean in the pitch black, at 11:30 p.m. I have no idea where she found a bird at 11:30 p.m., but I suspect she found a low nest somewhere and snatched the bird while it was sleeping.

We were in the living room watching TV when she came up onto the deck and started meowing. I got up to let her in and as I approached the door I could see her spitting feathers out of her mouth. When I got up to the door I saw the bird sitting there on the deck, the bird saw me and saw Saki was distracted and attempted to flee. But instead of getting away it flew directly into the side of the house, bonked its birdy head, and fell back onto the deck.

At this point things get a little unclear. I kept the door closed because I didn't want the bird in the house and I couldn't see what happened, but Saki and the bird both disappear off the deck. I went outside a few minutes later and I can hear a faint, "cheep cheep cheep," from the yard and then I see Saki running around down there, presumably after the bird. She disappears into the shadows, but then I can hear muffled meowing, much like a cat trying to meow with its mouthful. About 20 minutes later Saki is back, birdless, and gets let in for the night.

Part Two: The Hangover
This morning Jay and I suffered the after affects of Saki's birding last night. Piles and piles of cat puke in assorted places in the house. :( Two piles on the landing, one pile in the living, and I don't even know how much in the downstairs bathroom. Jay cleaned up the easy messes on the linoleum and left me to drag out the Nature's Miracle for the carpeted areas. Saki of course is acting like she didn't just puke up her body weight in cat food and bird parts and doesn't know why we'd be annoyed this morning.
