Playing catch up again - but I am determined to stick with this!
Day 3: Fav male character (besides Sam and Dean) and Day 4: Fav female character
Again - Imma do this season by season
Season One:
* John Motherfucking Winchester. Oh god remember when we get that glimpse of him in Home - I think fandom fandom!
* Meg - Aside from the brilliant work by Nicki Aycox, Meg is, besides John, the pivotal character in the season. I remember in Scarecrow when she vills the sketchy van guy and talks to YED. oh man the fandom exploded. Demons? Our show was ruined ;D And who would've thought her death 7 seasons later would be so widely mourned?
Season Two:
* Bobby - its that moment in the premiere when Sam goes to him after he's towed the Impala, and he says its a write-off and Sam says Listen to me, Bobby. If there's only one working part, that's enough. We're not just going to give up on..."" and he gets it, and then he tells Sam what John's really up to. its then we start to see that there's a lot more to this guy.
* Jo - I loved her dynamic with Dean, and I think its a testament to the writers that, while she reputedly was going to be a love interest for him that when they saw the onscreen dynamic, they went in a different direction. And another character who reappeared in subsequent seasons to great effect.
Season 3:
* Henriksen - Finally the law gets onto the boys, and Henriksen was a great adversary turned ally even though no one could ever spell his name! (hint it was a shoutout to Lance Henriksen of Millenium fame). The fact that he has featured so strongly in fanfic shows how he captured our imaginations.
* Ruby - And so the long game begins and we get to meet the cunning player who will help bring about the apocalypse. I love going back and watching the build of her relationship with Sam - in this season getting him at a time when he desperate to try and save Dean.
Season 4:
* Castiel - best entrance ever and who would've know the weird angel in a trenchcoat would become such a huge and indispensable part of the show and the fandom. This is my fav Cas season, as we see the beginning of his transformation from obedient soldier that will eventually lead to his place on team Free Will.
* Ruby - I adore that for most of the season, its unclear whether she is a dodgy ally or a foe. And yeah, she and Sam have some fierce chemistry! Her final triumphant revelation of her role in all the machinations to free Lucifer is a favourite scene of mine I'm awesome!"
Season 5:
Lucifer: Hellooo Mark Pellegrino! Wonderful casting and writing made Lucifer into a character that was both evil and relatable. And so seductive. I'd say yes!
Ellen: So wonderful to have her back for a couple of episodes, and her final scene with Jo is a heartbreaking standout for both actors.
Season 6:
A tie between Castiel and Crowley: I adore his arc, especially the secrets and mystery that slowly unfolds. And in Season 6 as we see the cost of having free will. His betrayal of the boys, of Dan is hard to watch but wonderfully so. Crowley comes into his own this season and oh man he is so deliciously wrongly evil. I think its his sexual sadism that does it for me!
Lisa: Loved Lisa, and what glimpses we got through her about Dean's year away from hunting. Their relationship comes across as real and flawed and I especially love the scene in Mannequin 3: The Reckoning where we see what an impasse they are at - both wanting each other but at a loss as how to make it work. I like that she moved on, even if poor Dr matt got killed. Would love some reference or reappearance someday.
Season 7:
Dick: I love Dick! Besides providing the opportunity for many dick jokes, Dick was a character exactly in the moment and in fact the writers permeated some of the ideas of the Occupy movement which burst into being as the season started.
Becky: Look - she got to marry Sam and tie him to her bed. What fan hasn't dreamed of that if only metaphorically? And she utters the most accurate description of SPN fandom ever "they were grumpy and overly literal but we shared a common passion.
Season 8:
Benny: That softly spoke monster friend of dean's - so quite melancholy and utterly loyal.
Charlie: Geeky red headed dykes rule, okay?!
