I've read a number of comments around fandom that episode 10 not episode 9 was meant to be the mid-season finale.

Does anyone have a source for it, because I can't remember reading it anywhere, and would like to add the Wiki if it's solid.

the only place I've seen it talked about by anyone official was on Jim Michaels twitter. I believe he was confused and was telling people episode 10 was the last one, and then he checked it out and said that the CW made it episode 9 instead

oh thanks for that! I've went and had a look and it looks like he just made a mistake with the ep number, and it was always ep 9 as the mid season finale.

Although there's probably more to it. It would have made sense to put the "mid-season" finale closer to the middle of the season (ep. 11) or where it has been previously (ep. 10) so what I'm curious about is whether they had enough lead time to make changes to 9 to make it more cliffhanger-y, or just ran with it as it was (probably the latter). This bodes well for the first ep in January not to be sucky. ;D

actually previous mid season finales are split between being episode 9 (or 8) and ep 10 (or 11).

I do knwo this year because there has only been i week without an episode airing, (and they had a week off over thanksgiving) they have almost run into themselves in that they didn't finish ep 10 until after ep 9 aired. They'll go into the xmas break only just having shot ep 14. So i cant see they wouldnt want to air 10 before the break. / mytheory
