Letting the days go by

Indulgent author's note:
This story is a short "Exile on Main Street" coda. It had two inspirations. One was the Talking Heads' song Once In A Lifetime which this episode evoked for me, and from whence the title of the story comes.

That's wonderful. I often think about the consequences to the normal people that show up in SPN, and it's interesting to think of Dean being one of them (for this brief moment).

Thanks. I don't know if you've listened to it, but there's a great segment of the commentary on The End, where Bob Singer talks about exactly that.

Thanks, I'll check it out when I get the season 5 discs. That's by far and away the best S5 ep so I'd be interested to hear the commentary.

I love commentaries. I just eat up anything to do with production. (Surprisingly not for the RPS data.)

Its a wonderful one - Edlund, Singer and Kripke. Both hilarious crack and a fascinating insight into the creative process.

Love how you present the problems of consequences for the people affected by the hunt. I love this: at the part of himself that felt ashamed in that moment of the coffee table he spent a month restoring, or the golf clubs that represented many hours of quiet frustration.

Thanks. I thought this episode was brilliant at capturing all the tensions in Dean's life and showing him not quite fitting in either the hunting life or suburbia.

This is not only beautifully written (and it is!) - but a really refreshing insight into the complex person Dean has become. Always always a hunter, but now seeing with the eyes of a suburban family man, too. You've really filled a niche in fanfic that I haven't seen before!

That's lovely feedback, thank you. And i loved seeing Dean in this very different role.

Oh, wow. I never thought of how Dean would look at seeing his new friends getting picked up by the police and how different that would feel from how he's used to looking at corpses. Really interesting. Poor BB is in such a crappy place, but I love the life you gave him and Lisa together.
