It might be 53 degrees out today, but that doesn’t slow my mailman! No, Mr. Mailman is out walking his route in shorts and an open-necked, short-sleeved shirt! I, on the sane hand, have long pants and short-sleeve t-shirt on-I’m not even outside. Historically Mr. Mailman pulls on a light jacket when the mercury dips into the 40s.

After a record setting heat spell this summer, it got cold fast. When Reggie and I went for our walk tonight it was already 48 degrees Fahrenheit! It’s not even October yet. Who turned off the heat ( Read more... )

It’s gray and rainy outside. Big drops of raining are bouncing off the sidewalk, watering my lawn and trees, drenching my roof, and decorating the pine needles on the evergreen in the back yard. It’s perfect weather for staying inside, cozying under a lightweight blanket, and reading a good book.

Updating an earlier blog: we’ve received word that my aunt and uncle from Houston have safely reached Dallas. No word yet from my cousin and her husband from the Port Arthur area of Texas. Please keep them, their homes, and their neighbors in your prayers.

We learned this morning that my aunt and uncle are evacuating their home north of Houston. We haven’t gotten a hold of a cousin that lives 90 miles east of Houston up the coast.
