No! Not those zits! The comic strip Zits!
If you have access to today’s Zits comic strip, it has a thoughtful
(pun intended) laugh about blogging. Unfortunately, I can’t find an
online copy to share. And I don’t have a working scanner, so I can’t
even contemplate loading an illegal copy myself. Sorry.
If you can’t find it, read my extended blog for a description, which is a bit lame since the drawings are missing.
Jeremy, a teenager and the central character of Zits, is
at the computer. In the first square his father comes up and says:
“Checkers?” Jeremy replies: “No thanks. I’m working on my blogs.”
Next square (see how the actually images would help?), Dad is now
leaning over Jeremy’s shoulder: “Blogs? You have more than one?”
Jeremy: “Three actually.”
Next square (this one in reverse video in the drawing-more appealing?),
Jeremy: “One is for expressing my thoughts. One is for expressing my
thoughts about those thoughts.”
Last square (I feel your relief as I type that; trust me, it was better
in pictures), Jeremy: “…And the other one is for any thoughts I might
have while writing my thoughts about my thoughts.” As he walks away Dad
thinks: “Further proof that the internet has too much space.”
Strangely, this is the most ambitious we’ve ever seen Jeremy…at least
that I remember.
