Countdown to Infinitus: Day 30 (June 16th)

Day 30 (June 16th)- What affect has Harry Potter made on your life and how much does it mean to you?

This is a rather interesting question. (Of course, I'd put the deepest question last and one of the most frivolous questions first in my countdown, since I made it backward.) But this is certainly a heart-warming one. Of course, I wouldn't be doing all of this if Harry Potter hadn't made a huge impact on my life, and if it didn't mean a lot to me. I wouldn't be shelling out hundreds of dollars to fly across the country to attend a conference if I hadn't been impacted heavily by Harry Potter. I wouldn't be planning to raise my daughter in the love of HP if I didn't believe in it myself.

I've made some incredibly good friends, one of my best friends, through Harry Potter online. I've spent hours and hours and hours enjoying fanfiction, fan art, role playing, listening to the audio books, watching the films, conversing with other fans, throwing themed parties, cosplay, and (of course) reading the Harry Potter books. Many an hour has been spent talking to other fans about the gaps in the fandom, and reviewing the novels. It's interesting what we can brainstorm or imagine in the Magical World, what the characters do in our hands instead of Rowling's.

Harry Potter (the universe, the fandom, the world--not necessarily the character) means a lot to me. In a world where I'm not always happy, I can turn to the happy sides of the fandom. I can close my eyes and lose myself to how amazing amortentia must smell, or the wonderful feel of wind through my hair as I speed off on a broomstick, or the empowering notion of being able to charm objects nearly to life. It's daydreaming ammunition, on top of the wonderful escape it gives.

So, yes, my world has been imprinted with Harry Potter. I never imagined that I would be so impressed upon by any piece of literature, but somehow Harry reached its way into my heart.
