So it's been about a month since I left for Washington DC with a group of students from school. At first I was very happy to be going, but as the date got closer I wasn't sure if I was going to have a good time. I thoroughly enjoyed myself on this trip and it gave me a new perspective on life in general.
I was happy that Jenn was on the trip with me, because even though I made/became closer friends with everyone else that was on the trip, it was nice to have someone there that really knew me.
I learned a lot about homelessness and the stereotypes associated with homelessness. I had this idea in my head about what it was and it turns out I was wrong. It surprised me, but in a good way. I not only learned about homelessness, but about children's healthcare and the lack of healthcare that 9 million children unfortunately have. Because of this tremendous number, our group of students and advisors, are putting forth an effort to do something about it. In the middle to end of March St. Rose is going to be having an few events to make others more aware of this. I'm excited to be apart of this, I just wish I had more time in my schedule to make a difference.
