I've only ever observed Lent once. In fact, before college, I don't think I'd ever even heard of it. My dad's side of the family is Catholic, but as my parents are both hippies, we only ever observed the big holidays. Christmas and Easter were the big ones, though they'd sometimes get nevergabe and I a little something on Valentine's day ( Read more... )

It's not something I normally do this time of year. But this year, I just felt I needed to. And I'm sure if you really had to/wanted to, you could give something up. It's really just a test of will-power.

Actually I decided to give up something earlier this afternoon...sitting on my @$$ all day long doing nothing. For Lent, I've decided to do at least 30 minutes (more preferred) of DDR (or other exercise) every day.

That's awesome! I wish you the best with it! Um...what is DDR, though?

Oh, I've seen those before! I just didn't realize DDR was the abbreviation. Well, very cool! Have fun with that!

I figured you might have seen it. Most folks I know used the DDR abbreviation rather than the full name. And I am having fun (even if I didn't do DDR last night).

Yeah, I can understand how you'd want to abbreviate that.

I mostly know DDR from television. On "Malcolm in the Middle," Lois's co-worker and Hal did a dance choreography/duos contest once. And on "Robot Chicken," a claymation Fidel Castro hears about the Dance Dance Counter-Revolution and challenged the DDCR champion to a DDCR "duel" because he had to CRUSH THE COUNTER-REVOLUTION! Funny stuff, in both shows!
