I GOT A JOB!!!!!!
As in, a job job. With like, a salary and benefits and everything! That's right, folks. After a year-and-a-half of bad temp jobs and not nearly enough interviews, I am officially among the employed peoples of Southern California.
Well, okay, I haven't actually signed any papers yet, and I'm only getting dental, but I GOT IT!!!
Truth be told, I was really torn about it earlier this week. I did a working interview a few days last week and over the weekend. It's kinda long hours, and two LONG Saturdays a month and the fact that there's no medical is definitely a BIG concern for me. But, as everyone seemed to point out to me, it's better than nothing, which is what I had before I got offered the job. And no more juggling temp agencies in the meantime. And it sounded like my boss would help me work with the whole medical situation. And best of all, now I can stop the infernal search for a job.
It's the Office Manager position at a small dental practice. My dentist, who prefers to be addressed as "Doctor" and whose last name begins with a "W" shall hence forth be known as DW. Not to be confused with
DW. She's awesome, and just loves talking to people. She loves music and art, and pulled my resume off Monster because I was a history geek who knows how to crochet (which she intends on learning from me sometime in the near future). And her staff are like, the sweetest things ever and her clientele are GREAT and they all absolutely adore her. I mean, her patients were hugging her on my first day there. How many people do know who HUG their DENTISTS?
So basically, I'm greeting patients, billing them when they come out, setting up appointments, sending insurance information in to the insurance companies so our patients can be reimbursed. And you know, whatever other little "office" things might come up. Oh, and today, I was sending out emails to patients and I got to sign it:
missy42 (Only, you know, I used my real name)
Office Manager
(310) 555-5555 (only I used the actual phone number for the office)
HOW COOL IS THAT?!
But the best part about my job (besides the people) is that I'm in control of the MUSIC!!! Well, not entirely. Sometimes, patients or even the employees will request something, but beyond that, it's all me, baby! DW can't work without music (one of the things that did attract me to the place), and she's got quite an array. There's her stuff, of course, plus patients and employees are always bringing stuff in for her to put onto the computer. I shall definitely have to bring in some of my stuff sometime soon.
Now, all I've got to do is find a place of my own and move in by March. But for now, Dad's made pizza for dinner. Life is good.
