"You asked" or "The Answer"

Sep 28, 2016 22:51

After the last friending frenzy I participated in, I made a post where anyone could ask me anything and I'd answer. I did create an answer post, but I was trying to get a picture to accompany one of my answers before I posted it as public, so I saved it as a sort of draft by marking it as "private." I swear I took the picture I wanted to accompany this post, but I can't seem to find it. With the new wave of folks added to my f-list, I wanted to allow you guys to ask me anything as well, but I felt bad about not having answered the last round of questions. So I figured I'd take this opportunity to finally post my answers. A few things have changed since I wrote this, but here they are, the way I originally intended to post them back in 2013:

You asked, here are my answers:

agameofthree asked:
What are three things currently occupying your time right now that you love?
  1. Stitching (knit or crochet, whatever I happen to be working on) either at one of my Stitch-n-Bitch groups, or by myself in my room listening to an audiobook. I love doing it.
  2. Walking the dog. Really anything with the dog, actually.
  3. Watching TV or movies.
What are three things also occupying your time that you hate (or dislike)?
I'm going to answer this one in a separate friends-only post if you don't mind. Find the answer here.

blue_eye asked:
What are your favorite foods?
  • Chocolate
  • Dark Chocolate
  • Italian - pasta, pizza, garlic bread, ravioli (especially pumpkin ravioli or the butternut squash ravioli they have at Trader Joe's)
  • Sandwiches
  • Armenian food (LOVE that lamb and yogurt!)
  • Chocolate
  • Indian food
  • A good hamburger (or veggie burger; I'm not a vegetarian, but I like the taste of some brands of veggie patty which is great for when I don't feel like filling up on meat)
  • Chocolate
  • Cheese
  • Mexican food
  • Popcorn
  • Chocolate
  • Pancakes
  • Sourdough Bread
  • Italian Bread
  • Ice Cream
  • Cookies
  • Seafood
  • Did I mention Chocolate?

Really, a better question would be what foods I don't like. That would pretty much narrow it down to broccoli and asparagus, but even those I'll eat with the right dressing. So really it would be red peppers, green peppers and kale. Not a fan.

    becofoz asked:
What was your favourite subject in school?
History. I was pretty good at the math and sciences, but I never really liked them all that much. I liked art and drama as well.

    What are your favourite hobbies?
Crocheting, Knitting, watching TV, going to the movies, going to my stitch'n'bitch groups, having a nice meal with my friends, visiting family, listening to audioboods, and rubbing my dog's belly.

What is your favourite animal (either domestic or wild or both)?
    Unicorns!

    promised asked:
Does the 42 in your username have any significance & if it does... what is it?
Of course it does! 42 is The Answer. It's also Agent Mulder's apartment number on The X-Files and the row Ana Lucia sat in on Oceanic flight 815 on Lost.

    quaero_verum asked:
If you could move to any of the other planets in the solar system (with oxygen not being a factor!) which one would you choose, and why?
I actually double-checked my Skywatching book to refresh my memory on the conditions of the planets in our Solar System. It's kind of an old book (originally published in 1994), so I did go onto Nasa's website to fill in a few of the blanks. I must confess, it's a little hard for me to take oxygen out of the equation, because the lack of it - and presence of a myriad of other gasses - on our celestial neighbors shape their atmosphere and landscape (the Gas Giants especially are pretty soupy) but I'll do my best. In any case, I've concluded that this one's going to be decided by a process of elimination. Let's start from the inward out:

  • Mercury is too hot and too cold.
  • Venus is pretty much a volcanic inferno, though it does have a "continent" named Billie Holiday, and various other features named after females, so those could be interesting to visit.
  • Mars is pretty boring landscape, and way too obvious. On the other hand, if "Men are from Mars," going there might help me understand them.
  • Jupiter is pretty turbulent. Lots of storms and it spins crazy fast - a day is under 10 hours on Jupiter! I think my internal clock would get way out of whack. Also, hello gravitational force! Even if there is some solid ground somewhere under all those gases, I'd never be able to get myself up off the ground!
  • Saturn is also pretty stormy and a day there is just over ten hours. But it does have those beautiful rings. As a kid, Saturn was my favourite because of those gorgeous rings. seeing them up-close could be pretty spectacular.
  • Uranus is less prolific but nonetheless beautiful in its rings. However, it rotates on its side, which I think would be way too disorienting. Also, very icy.
  • Neptune: rings and ice. Pretty colour, but too much ice.
  • Pluto/Eris... Are we counting these? I guess it doesn't matter, they're too far from anything for me to want to move there.

So I guess that narrows it down to Venus, Mars or Saturn for me. I'd probably go with Saturn. As I said, it was my favourite as a kid because of those amazing rings. I'll bet the sunsets there are magnificent. [1]

    sorceress asked:
Do you have a bedtime routine?
Not really. I mean, it varies. I mix it up. I usually watch TV while I have a little something to eat (or big to eat, depending on the day's previous meals) so that I can take my bedtime meds. Sometimes I'll crochet or knit in front of the TV for a while after that. I nearly always make a trip to the bathroom before settling in to bed. Once in bed, I might watch some more TV, or read bedtime fanfic, or just do lights-out, depending on how tired I am.

    What's your favorite cereal?
I like granola. Also, Trader Joe's has this blueberry pomegranate flakes-n-clusers thing that I like. The berries turn the milk kind of a blueish-purple-y shade!

How do you cheer yourself up if you're feeling blue?
    Watch a comedy.

    dance_the_dance asked:
What fictional character(s) do you identify with? (One, or top 5, or more if you want.)
I'm going to answer this one in a friends-only post as well, because it gets kinda personal. Answer can also be found here.

Keep asking! This time around, I'll make an effort to respond in a more timely manner!

  • chocolate, pieces of me, really deep thoughts, food
