So I met these five guys in heaven...

One of them was an angel. He never said it, but I'm sure he was. He was always so quiet, like he was just thinking about everything. I've never seen anything as beautiful as he was. It was just unreal, ethereal. There weren't any wings or anything, just that beauty, and a sort of serenity that followed him wherever he went. He didn't smile much, either, which I guess is like an angel because they've seen so much death and hardship they just don't smile very often. When he did, though...it affected everybody. It's like I got happy from my toes to my hair, and chills all up my spine. He was beautiful.

Another one was a demon. He didn't say it, either, but you could just tell. He talked a lot more than the others, mostly answering more questions and talking for them sometimes. There was this haughty air about him, like he was the best one of them there. Every Satanist I've ever known has that air; so comfortable, so powerful. His eyes had this almost sadistic gleam to them, like he was daring you to tell him off. But when he smiled they softened, like they had been working too hard for too long and they were really glad for a break. He was cold.

The other one, I think he might have been a demon too. No, now I think about it I'm pretty sure he was just a guy. He was always following the demon around like he was his master. More like his older brother, actually. It was kind of wierd. They all looked up to the demon, but this guy just adored him. He liked to make lots of jokes, and teased everybody. He was kind of self-conscious, I guess, because he played with his hair a lot. And every time he was about to say something he'd glance at the demon, then say it anyway, even if the demon looked at him not to. He was fun.

Then there was the withdrawn one, I'm not sure what he was. He struck me as the kind of guy you'd expect a wandering spirit stuck on earth to be. He was quiet and dignified, and agreed with almost everything. He liked to smile, but behind the smile was a sort of sadness, like he was always thinking about something else. Something that was really bothering him, something unfinished. Or maybe something he wanted to say, but just couldn't bring himself to. Like that. He was shy, but comforting.

But the one that made the biggest impression was the last one. I'm just sure he was a god. He told me he was a demon, but he definitely wasn't. Demons don't laugh that much, or in that way. There was this deep emotion in everything he did. He always had a cigarette in his hand, just puffing away on it while he talked. And he talked so much, about such varying things. Sometimes, though, he'd just go quiet all of a sudden and get this look in his eyes like he wanted to die. I thought I saw him shiver a couple of times, like maybe he was thinking about it. When gods get that way, they're thinking about all the things they've seen and done. A lot like the angel. But much, much more powerfully, much deeper. He was crazy.

I met these five guys in heaven, and we had a good time. We sat and we talked until it was time for them to go. Then they said good-bye to me, and I took the hand that was reaching toward me, and I came back home. I hope I get to see them again, when I'm finally able to go back.
