Wow, it's been so friggin' long since i posted i am just going to fill you in on all my news from the last 6 months and you can comment and ask further questions where and when you like :) especially
nodstar ...sorry i've gotten distracted by facebook! I shall endeavour to return to my LJ roots.
- I just bought tickets to see... you are not gonna believe this coz i don't believe it myself... THE SMASHING PUMPKINS!!! This has been one of my dream bands I wish I had gotten the opportunity to see when they were big/before they stopped touring, well by some freak of chance they have reformed and are playing in Barcelona next Thursday 31st March, and somehow i managed to score tickets! I won't actually believe it's going to happen until I am standing in front of them, this is too unreal not to think i will lose the tickets or miss the show or they will cancel or something. Either that or they'll be crap... hahahaha....
- I am just about to become a qualified teacher for students learning English as a foreign language! I'm in the middle of doing an intensive month teaching course, I finish next Tuesday. After that I think I will ditch my no-good shitty job in an Irish Pub which never lets me have a weekend off or do anything in the day, ever, and go on a summer camp to teach English to kids for 2 weeks in Turkey. After that.. who can say? This is a really huge piece of news in my life at the moment, it's amazing for me to think i could even BE a teacher, I am learning so much at the moment and having so many broadening horizons moments. Plus learning to speak english good n stuff.
- My Spanish is good, I'm nearly at an advanced level (still far from fluent) although doing the teaching course has fucked me coz it's so hard to speak spanish when you're learning to teach english, but after this month i will get back into it so when i get home i can mediate on your behalf if by some freak chance should you happen to have an altercation with a spanish man on the street who doesn't speak a word of good decent Aussie. Or, you know, i could just teach spanish.
- I went to see the Alegria show at the Cirque du Soleil for FREE when they came to Barcelona, because a bunch of the guys who work for the Cirque du Soleil kept coming into my pub and so me & the other waitresses got to know them quite well and they gave us tickets! it was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen in my life! I have to post some pictures, the show was jawdropping and i never wanted it to end. I felt so lucky to be seeing it for free as well, as when they were in melbs the last time I couldn't afford to go and would really have loved to.
- I went to Amsterdam for my bday! It was great to catch up with my cousins there, and crazy to see them sampling some pot and mushies for the first time, i couldn't believe it coz they used to be so conservative and they have really loosened up! I had a great time, it wasn't a crazy party like i was kinda hoping for, but i did something really nice everyday, went for a bike ride to see some windmills, had a picnic in the park, went to The Hague for a free music festival, and went to the Heineken brewery!
That's all I can think of at the moment, I'm going through another period of flux where everything's changing and i don't know what's round the corner, so I'm feeling pretty excited in general! i'll try to update more regularly so i have more to talk about...
