Ha, the booger collecting thing made me laugh. :) ...and made me leave a comment for the first time. I could give you the informal notation for it in german. Wanna have? Or is the joke about that activity to find it out by yourself/in direct conversation with a natural speaker? Best wishes for a victory over your ambitious schedule! MM
Hmmm German. Well, I've got popel, but I was taught that by a Colombian who lived in Germany. Or what's nasen bohren? That might be "nose picker" and not booger. ???
Or I've got nasa grubla in Swiss German. That also might be nose picker.
Yes! Definitely share your knowledge! Thanks.
Out of curiosity, how did you wander over here? :)
I saw your comment on Elyse Sewell's livejournal and was attracted by the icon you currently have. How sad, I can hardly tell you anything new. Popel is fine and your suspicions anent "nasebohren" (some people do say "nasenbohren" but the former is more common) are nearly right. It describes "the way to get to the Popel" - I guess it's nose picking? The Swiss German one might be "nose picker" (What a catch! :)). May I ask you a question anyway? Would like to know what one must study to lead an exciting and adventurous life like yours...
I teach ESL. You don't necessarily have to study anything. In fact, I'd imagine you could find work without having finished high school. However, there are definitely ways to get better jobs.
I studied International Marketing and French. Never really used it much though. :)
Hey! How's life? You know I met a couple Washington hippie types on a bus in Thailand or Laos, and when they said they were from Olympia or Olympics or somewhere I asked if they knew you and they very much did! We shared glowing reports. Hope you're doing well.
dude, as soon as those washington hippie types (jed & devon) made it to vietnam they were all we met your friend on a bus! and yet they were SO VAGUE about you that it took several attempts and extremely specific questions before i figured out who they were talking about.
glad to see you're back in lj-land. i look forward to your colombian dispatches (and hawaii dave reports!)

I usually spend my off mornings meditating with the NY Times but found you again in my Fav's links list and have caught up now on your musings from life decisions to gay marriage to Sarah Palin. As much as I deeply love so many of the writers for the Times, they have nothing on you per richness of thought, a flair for assembling just the right letters and giving me a chuckle. I'm thankful you're putting your formidable reflections to such good purpose and eagarly await news on your next passages. Paul

Thanks!! Such a huge compliment coming from you. These days I´m pretty much scribbling things down without taking the time to make it pretty or filter out the uninteresting bits. In other words, I think you´re probably being too generous. But thanks!!
