So I finally caught Tinker Tailor soldier spy yesterday.
The movie was Magnificent. From the first scene to the last, I was sucked into the world that had been masterfully created. The acting was spot on. The symbolism throughout the movie, the way they weaved memories around and just like memories, the transitions were fluid and continuous. Amazing cinematography; the way we see the backs of the spies most of the time because the trademark of a spy is that we don't know their identities. The association of the characters to chess pieces. How we see different aspects of the same scenes from various characters. I could keep on raving about this movie but the best thing to do is to go watch it.
I could write a thesis to the Gary oldman's portrayal of Smiley in the movie. His character was mainly silent but when he spoke, it was beautiful.[The look he had however reminded me of Alan rickman for some reason. Perhaps his styling of the hair reminded me of Alan in Love actually.]
What I loved most: His head tilts.
In some scenes, he would be completely still and then just by tilting his head a nary an inch, the audience just knows what he is thinkingfeelingcontemplating. He took my breath away.
I could write a sonnet about Tom Hardy and his beautiful lips.
[ how sinful are they?]
His golden hair and his eyes. My lord, his eyes! And when he cries, I wanted to hug him and make sure I could protect him.
Benedict cumberbatch was amazing as Peter. There is one scene in particular that touched me; he is stealing from his own people and just as he is about to get away with it, his hands tremble just so. That one scene cliched it for me. I have only ever seen him in sherlock and I have heard rave reviews about him. But I have not been able to watch more than one complete ep of Sherlock and now I want to watch everything.
There is an scene in which he is told that "now would be the time to tidy things up" and he goes back home and he kicks out his lover without a word. The lover asks "just tell me if its someone else" and he remains silent and the moment he is alone in his flat, he breaks down. Because he was doing it for the protection of his lover even if it kills him to let his lover go.
I could watch this movie over and over again and I bet I could find some new information each time. I love it. Thanks to Z who introduced me to this movie...I am now a big fan and I am going to find the book and buy it and then devour it.
Then as we were walking back, I saw F21 and knew that I had to get new jeans because my fav black pair which I had gotten from F21 had holes in them. Thats how often I wore them. So I got myself a jeans and because I wanted motivation for losing weight [and also cos I am sucker for dresses right now] I bought a red dress as well.
It made me feel so nice wearing it, I knew I had to get it. So I did.
Its a combination of 2 of my favorite things ; The color red and Lace! I wore it with my gold heels at home and it was awesome. This is gonna be the dress I wear for flirting-required events in the future. And the most important rule I set myself, I can only wear it when I have lost another 4kg! How is that for motivation :D
Of course mother hates it. She thinks its far too short. It seems she has forgotten how JC skirts were as long as this dress.
Although my attitude nowadays when it comes to my mother's opinion: if its good then listen, if not hear it and then chuck it.
On hindsight though, its about time I started a bank account just for savings so that I can use it on much more things like courses.
But this red dress has made me ridiculously happy. The most I have been in ages. So I am gonna ride on this high and see this week through.
