Lately I've been on a rant about some words that hold no meaning for me, are stupid and say nothing, or are ridiculously overused or erroneously used.
Here's my current hit list:
TRY - what the fuck? in most cases people either do or don't do. TRY is generally just a chickenshit way of saying, "ain't gonna happen unless by magic"
DESERVE - who gets to decide who deserves or doesn't deserve something? what's the criteria? more often than not shit just happens and deserve ain't got nothin' to do with it.
SHOULD - again one of those stupid judgment-laden words. should means i will but i don't wanna. get over it. do it or don't do it but quit agonizing over what the "theys" of this world say "should" happen. should is for people who can't think for themselves. or unwilling to do what their gut says.
FAIR - it doesn't exist so why is there a word for it? if people would put "fair" in the same category as "unicorn" and "mermaid" we might be okay. until then, i'm all done with "fair"
LOVE - when used as a noun or a non-specific verb. "i love you" -- really? cool, then please do it. love isn't how you feel it's what you do about how you feel. "i love you" should always be accompanied by some concrete expression thereof. for instance, a couple saying "i love you" before they part should mean, "even though we're separating you are first and foremost in my heart and i'll do everything i can to meet your needs even though i'm not here" see? that means something. but if you just say it without having a good idea of what you'll do with that "feeling", the word, the very notion of love itself is cheapened and meaningless.
And of course my favorite expression ever has to be HANG IN THERE! Uh...where else would i hang? what other choice do i have? i mean, i guess we all have a choice to hang or not hang, but seriously, wouldn't it be kinda refreshing if someone would just say, "that sux and i've got nothing else to say about it" lol?!? okay, maybe not. maybe i'm being too tough on that particular cliche' but i'm sure we can come up with some new cliche's just to mix it up, right?

thanks for hanging in there with me! ;)
