The cable modem was just turned off.
Mister Tom was gone all day and evening. When it first happened, I called our cable company and got a recording that said service in our area was out and they were working on it so I didn't pursue it any further.
I just got up an hour ago because I couldn't sleep. After being on hold *a LONG time* and then very amateurishly and painfully being walked through a bunch of stuff by the long suffering tech support guy, I had the pleasure of hearing him say, "Uh lady, you're kidding, right? Just the stand-by light on the modem is lit? Try pressing the 'on' button." My, oh, my that was embarrassing.
