I've found it impossible to get any work done while Dodger is in the house. It's a constant rabble of drinking, card games, and laughter these days -- not to mention the odd smells and occasional, mysterious crashes. Poor Zombi II has retreated to the rafters of the attic, and I sense his nerves are shaken because he's become awfully thin. If ( Read more... )

I'm very glad you've found an acceptable compromise regarding work. I can't say I was looking forward to meeting Dodger in the course of doing business with you, not that the prospect would have stopped me.

Hm. A successful quidditch player with a highly effective publicist... to think you might have missed out on a chance to be asked if you were available for marriage.

Dodging marriage proposals isn't hard so long as you've not compromised the daughter too badly.

Didn't we have an affair while you were dating Padma? I don't know who compromised who, in that situation, but I doubt it would matter much to Dodger so long as your Gringott's account was sizeable.

Yes. I was ever-so-grateful for the supposedly-fictional Veil of Tears you located and things just got out of hand. You minx.

I believe Patil was tragically confused about just what sort of business I deal in. Not that I'd ever leave any client or customer unsatisfied, mind.

I may need your fictional Veil at some point very soon, if you're agreeable. I find myself increasingly wary of Dodger, as you might imagine, and I think it may be of use particularly in figuring out what he's bothering Theodore about

Well, you do move in mysterious ways your wonders to perform, but Padma was paranoid all the same.

You're welcome to it, as you've taken very great care and Dodger is essentially the competition at this point.

I suppose one good thing about quidditch players is that they understand competition. And that everything is more or less a game. Isn't it?

Many of us tend to see things as a game and appreciate the meaning of competition, but that's not true in general. Just look at Potter. Or don't, if you've just eaten.

I don't think I'd care to look at him whether I'd just eaten or not.

I appreciate your compliance, of course. I'm rather surprised that you've turned out to be something of a reliable associate of mine, I admit, but I'm not sorry.

It is surprising, but it also keeps things interesting so long as no one is under any illusions.

Do I seem the sort who would be under any illusions?

Not in this sense, no, otherwise I doubt we'd be chatting so amicably now.

Ah, then you're under no illusions as well. That's good, then.

How else could we have survived an illicit and misguided passion and still be on good terms?
