When I was eight or nine, the Duke bought me a doll. I'd never had one. Gran was more inclined to give me a Cornish Pixie to dress up, one that had been drugged up on potion, and Dodger wasn't inclined to give me anything at all, except perhaps a mug of mead to make me sleepy and quiet. I'm coming back home - how odd and pleasing an expression that is - soon. My present will not be as loaded with terrible meaning as the doll, I hope.

I'm far too old for dolls, so it's all the better.

If you like, and if you are not busy, then we can go tomorrow perhaps. There is something magical in those piles of bricks, if you'll forgive the pun. Plus, I thought it might be useful in my line of work to know about such things.

And you're right, usually I am crass and offensive, something I fully admit. But I don't try and cause trouble everywhere I go, sometimes I do try to be nice but only to people I am fond of

I think you will find it very useful, yes. The pun seems oddly appropriate, as you'll discover to-morrow. There are no ghosts where there should be

Oh, you know I've always found chronically nice people to be boring. It's the equivalent of a gem with no cuts, sparkles, or flaws... which makes it nothing more than a stone, of course. Speaking of, Mrs Fiddle is gone, and we can look at the necklace whenever you return.

I'm on my way, well, I will be when I have finshed my drink.

And thank you.
