Pennies are currency, correct? So why do I see so many on the ground, crying out for someone to pick them up?

Growing up, my dad always picked up coins on the ground. It could a majestic quarter ( a rare but enthralling find) or my humble friend, the penny. I was recruited, being lower to the ground and lesser of girth to grab these treasures from the pavement. Over the years, even long after my father passed away, I would keep my eyes to the ground hoping to spot that familiar glint, one that would signal some eventual extra cash in my pockets.

You see, change, especially pennies doesn't make you an instant gazillionaire. In fact, I think most people think of pennies as pointless, an inconvience. In a time where we use mostly plastic for our transactions, the penny gets the shaft.

I collect change in an old sauce jar. It takes a few months, but after awhile it adds up to 40 or 50 dollars. That is more than just 1 cent.
