RIP Frankie Manning
I just came home to find out that Frankie Manning has died. For those of you not familiar with him, he was one of the original dancers from the Savoy Ballroom, was one of the first to perform arial moves in Lindy Hop and was a choreographer and dancer in the amazing Lindy Routine from Hellzapoppin'.
I had the pleasure of dancing with him at the Herrang swing dance event in Sweden about 5 years ago on my birthday and the memory of dancing with such a delicate and amazing leader as well as such a legend of the dance (who was 90 years old at that point) will stay with me forever.
Goodbye Frankie. You had the greatest smile ever!
