I know this is belated, but it must be said.
The tragedy that has taken place in Asia is horrific. Somewhere, probably above 80,000 people have died, according to official reports.
80,000
My mind does not have the emotional, nor intellectual capabilities to process that many lives lost in one fellow swoop. It's incredible to think that 3,000 people lost their lives on 9/11. Multiply that by 17 or so, and you've got this. While I know none of their families are going to read this, regardless, I must send my deepest Condolences to the families who have lost loved ones, people who have been hurt, people who saw others killed, Sri Lankan and other Asian immigrants who had to watch their home countries become deadly wastelands on the news, and anyone else who has been impacted by this tragedy.
A man by the name of Josef Stalin once said, "One death is a tragedy. A million deaths is a statistic." It's a barbaric thought, but starkingly true of our times.
