god what a crazy day!
Man, this week is all over the place! Here are some things:
i got another flat tire tonight (dammit!), but i caught the 71 at noriega and sunset with dan's advice
I had to watch a mouse get crushed by traffic after surviving like 2 minutes (and at least 30 cars) of traffic, which was awful
our apartment has a mouse/mice, i'm not really sure what to do
and here's the really exciting part
so today my advisor asked me if i wanted to give a popup presentation at gilbert club, which sounds like nothing but man i am like shaking just thinking about it. Gilbert club is this thing that happens at the end of the American Geophysical Union, which is this worldwide humongous conference they have at the moscone center every year. Anyway so Gilbert Club is like the special geomorphologist meeting, where all the researchers from this field congregate at the lawrence hall of science and listen to people's presentations (last year two dudes from MIT presented, as well as this crazy japanese guy), and sort of near the end they have these pop-up presentations where people give little 3 minute things about their research. Anyway there are about four hundred professors and grad students there, including most if not all of the top people in the crazy world of geomorphology. How exciting it would be to present to them, but like jesus that is some pressure. I would have to conjure up more false confidence than perhaps i can muster. That's basically me announcing myself to the geomorph world, like my debutant ball, i should get a tiarra. Leonard (my advisor) says that if I just announce it's my for my undergraduate thesis they will cut me a lot of slack. But holy shit! SHIT.
also, sweet hard-ass rocking shows coming up:
friday - grey daturas, mammatus, pearls and brass, and OM!
that show is basically going to annihilate, in the slowest, most meditative way possible. except for pearls and brass who i think are a little more upbeat
saturday - high on fire! i have only heard half the songs off their album that came out in 2003 but man is it fucking awesome. that will annihilate in a much more cocaine kind of way
