as i get older, i get more and more confused by conservative people who claim to be so moral.
i don't understand how not making love, denying women rights over their own bodies, claiming to know the truth and damning to hell those who happen to have different beliefs, condeming homosexuals for falling in love and wanting to express it, making more money than they will ever use, funding programs that make things to kill people, taking over other countries and forcing beliefs on the inhabitants, cutting funding to inner city programs, public education, healthcare, trying to force their beliefs on others in THIS country through terrible things like the defence of marraige act and anti-abortion laws.... how can any of these things be moral? because they hide behind christianity?
this administration and its mindset are anything but moral. it truly makes me sick to see how selfish, self riteous, and self important the right has become.
i truly think that being conservative comes down to being selfish. there. i said it. someone once told me "i have nothing against social programs, but YOU fund them if you supposrt them." how can a human being be so unconcerned about the plight of their fellow human beings???? how can it not matter to someone that people of all ages are dying around the world from things that could be prevented if we in the first world spred our riches around a little bit? how can it not be obvious that our government not only sits by and allows, but actually CAUSES devastation and inconcievable harm in other parts of the world? how can ANYONE think that some people are only poor because they don't work hard enough? have those people never been to a third world country? have those people never seen that the actions of the first world take away all possabilties for third world citizens to earn enough to FEED THEIR FAMILIES, let alone IMPROVE their lot in life?
it comes down to this: patriotism is bullshit. there are no two ways about it. patriotism means saying "we are better than you are. we are worth more." and that can just never, ever be true. human beings all share their most important characteristic - BEING HUMAN. it matters so much more than skin color, nationality, sexual orietantion, ability........ no one can control where they are born, into what kind of situation, and it simply is not acceptable to hoard what you can for yourself and think that because you were born into a family in a first world country where you can get a good job and make money that you DESERVE any of that.
the world needs so many changes, first and foremost, conservative pricks in this country need to learn to be human beings, because as long as they believe the things that they do about human rights, i truly believe that they are unfeeling, inhuman bastards - truly subhuman lifeforms.
give me feedback, kids, i am pised off and i want to talk to you, no matter what side of the issue you are on. but be forewarned that if you are of the "everyone gets what they deserve" mentality, you will have a LOT of work to do if you want any respect from me.
