Frenzy spiralling. I've now watched bits of the horror that was allowed to be perpetrated Thursday night. In the previous times Biden faced Trump he did not face the man Trump has become. A vehement complete liar, energized by a big enough group of wealthy powerful people and millions of deluded religious nuts fueled on racist hate. Trump himself intuitively a socially cunning politician, audacious without limits. Biden was shocked (that shows that he has never truly thought what must be in a personality like Netanyahu), and it took a couple of hours for him to restore himself.
My answer to everybody and anybody who judges Biden as "an abject failure" and now wants
unceremoniously to eject him as decrepit:
I'd like to know if you think you could win over such an opponent, be willing to be judged by your inability to quell him.
There was no live audience. So, it was also a demonstration on how real because humanly effective is virtual experience. But then has not TV been teaching us this for decades?

I rewatched bits of the talk. Yes Biden looks old, he talks slowly -- he does not wear make-up like Trump who is fat and made faces as Biden talked (like someone in the third grade). But as to what was said, there is just no comparison. Biden answered quesions, complaints thoroughly, thoughtfully, and soundly. He talked slowly (to avoid stuttering?), always telling the truth (not talking about many aspects of foreign policy which are immoral), by offering historical context.
Almost every sentence of Trump's was a lie. This is what a friend of mine wrote on her timeline:
Trump said that some Democratic states allow people to execute babies after they’re born and that every legal scholar wanted Roe v. Wade overturned-both fantastical lies. He said that the deficit is at its highest level ever and that the U.S. trade deficit is at its highest ever: both of those things happened during his administration. He lied that there were no terrorist attacks during his presidency; there were many. He said that Biden wants to quadruple people’s taxes-this is “pure fiction,” according to Dale-and lied that his tax cuts paid for themselves; they have, in fact, added trillions of dollars to the national debt.
Dale went on: Trump lied that the U.S. has provided more aid to Ukraine than Europe has when it’s the other way around, and he was off by close to $100 billion when he named the amount the U.S. has provided to Ukraine. He was off by millions when he talked about how many migrants have crossed the border under Biden, and falsely claimed that some of Biden’s policies-like funding historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and reducing the price of insulin to $35 a month-were his own accomplishments.
There is no point in going on, because virtually everything he said was a lie."
Why are not Republicans calling for Trump to get out of the "race." He incited a riot, tried to overturn a fair, free election by hard violence, has since then been fomenting retaliatory violence; if you counter him, his fans threaten you, he works to pay others to defeat you. . The supreme court refused to follow the plain words of Section 3 of the 14th amendment. Because powerful, wealthy people are angered by Biden's FDR agenda. Religious intolerance is now just fine & the first effort has now made it dangerous for any woman to become pregnant in the US. She must must near death before they will use medical science to help her. The majority of US people is whom Biden has successfully been working for for 4 years; he is thwarted by monopolies his Jusice Dept now going after -- they make the inflation. Rome wasn't built in a day.
Those calling for Biden to resign are the problem. Why are they misframing him? Because the rest of pop TV is a noisy frenetic circus? Compare how Jon Stewart conducts himself nowadays. The lesson to be drawn again and again has been these encounters, given the state of US education, become forms of controlled hazing, where the most memorable quip ("sound bite") wins. No, they want the job themselves or for their faction. They smell vulnerability. They too don't want the old FCR agenda (e.g. the New York Times).
I sympathize with progressives because Biden has been more than a disappointment in foreign policy and the ways he tries to control inflation (upping the cost for borrowing hits workers on bottom rungs). Most of all he carries on the worst old "cold war" and brinkmanship policies. He lacked the insight and moral compass to stop this on-going genocide of the Palestinians and destruction of their society and barely livable apartheid like spaces; he supports efforts to overturn social democracies in Latin & South America; cringeworthy is his fawning on Modi. What does he get for this? Sneers and complaints from the butcher Netanyahu.
If you don't want him to run based on these sorts of passivity or ill-judged immoral acts, say so. Be courageous yourself. Obama had a much better foreign policy; he was trying to achieve peace & stability with Iran with the help of Nanci Pelosi Obama passed the Affordable Care Act.
