Convention 2008: Day 1

Jul 29, 2008 01:39

The first full day.

Jen and I work up and decided we were going to go off to Starbucks for breakfast (as we, of course, slept through actual breakfast). Gentle calls and asks if we can make some signs for him. When I call and ask where he'd like us to bring them, he asks us to help with some stuff for the GA's at the hall. Of course we say yes. And then remind him the rest of the time that we missed breakfast. But we happily helped. By the time we finished, it was time for lunch anyway.

We went to eat and then came back for the GA, as promised. My Tyler (who will be known as Tyler from here on out) comes in (as he is SCL president and has to be on stage, it's the rule you have to dress up for the first and last GAs as it's the only time the SCL is on stage) wearing shorts and a t-shirt. The airline had lost his luggage. The parliamentarian, who is six inches shorter than Tyler, offered the tux he had out in his truck. Tyler was stuck for choice and accepted. The poor dear. The shirt fit well but there was several inches of socks showing down to his sneakers. He made due. We left half-way through.

We all got coupons to get 10% off apparel at the bookstore. Jen got a hoodie and I got a t-shirt. Well, when we go to check out, the guy asks Jen if she's going to come back and she says maybe. He says keep the coupon. Well, I forgot mine and asked if I could pretend Jen's was mine, he said yes! Score! We then wandered to the basement where they have a very tasty ice cream. It was like Cold Stone only better and cheaper.

We hung at the dorm for a bit and played on the internet for a time and then hung out until it was time for dinner. Which was good. Then we went to the mixer where we didn't mix. We haven't for years now. Then it was time for our GA. It was fine. We hung with the cool kids in the back and added...names to the attendance list.

We attempted to go to the dance. The music was great but the children were not good dancers and our peps weren't there. So, after three songs we left.

That leads us to knowish. We've holed up on one side of the lounge, playing on our computers and chatting. Listening to drama and such. Tyler has had his Sock Puppet privileges permanently for calling Rose a Mary Sue (after saying except for the 20 minutes of Davros, the finale sucked, he can't wait until RTD leaves, that Moffatt has consistently written the best episodes and that River Song wasn't a Mary Sue). I still adore him, but somethings can't be forgiven.

OH! I didn't go to swimming but apparently the lifeguard almost let one of our kids drown. Nice. They're fine but still...

I should check in with the Ear folk.

Auditions tomorrow! The TE sitution is not as thought. We were given erroneous info. All is well. One of the chairs from last year is doing it again (this is a good thing) and knows we help greatly.
