The Hobbit

So I went to see 'The Hobbit' tonight.
First of, I have a confession to make: I never actually read it. *hangs head in shame* I plan to rectify this, but there you have it.

Also, my sister declared that we will never go to Figi Theatre again. During the intermission the line in front of the bar was so long, we never got to order. There were two people behind the counter and they both worked so slow and completely not in tune with each other.

About the movie:
Richard Armitage was in it. Squeee. I've seen him in 'North and South' and 'The Vicar of Dibley's Christmas Special' and he's just nice to look at (and listen to), even if he does have a big, bushy beard. At first I was a bit worried about him playing a dwarf, because he is normally such a nice, tall fellow, but on a big screen you hardly noticed it *grin*
Seriously though, great casting and I think he gave a very likeable portrayal.

Great comedy relief. Well, there were thirteen dwarfs.

The Goblin King looked like Jabba the Hut.

With this movie there was finally a point where I could just sit back and enjoy it without being my overly analytic self and wondering what I might have done or would have felt in a similar situation. (In case you're interested: not a darn thing and mainly paralyzing terror) But somewhere during that Goblin-mine scene I realized: 'That is never, ever going to happen to me.' And then I could just watch it mainly guilt-free.

Bottom-line: I liked it a lot and I'm definetely going to see the next part.
