I'm not really into politics. Or the news or current events for that matter. But I actually voted. Yay me.
My favorite teacher in high school and I were talking about the 2000 election during my senior year. He told me he was "voting my conscience" (for Alan Keyes if you're curious). I told him that it is ridiculous to "throw away your vote." Now I understand were he was coming from. The utter weariness of the system. The only major canidate that I didn't dislike was Fred Thompson, so I was going to vote for him. I kind of like Tankrado's (sp??) attitude towards illegal immigration amnesty and the rights of those at Guantonamo (sp??). Basically his attitude was to kick their asses, torture them, kick em some more then get them the hell out of our country. I admire that. What I don't admire is John McAmnesty.
But back to my point. Now that Thompson is out, I'm so weary of the system that for some reason has dealt us a hand of CRAP on both sides, I voted my conscience!
That's right, I voted for Ron Paul. Google him! (That's an inside joke with "Paul-bots."
Now if I could choose anyone to run, it would be Ann Coulter for president and Bruce Willis or Condeleza Rice for vice p. But that's not going to happen. I really dig John Mayer's "Waiting on the world to change." That's really nabs the voice and thoughts of our generation.
Me and all my friends
We're all misunderstood
They say we stand for nothing and
There's no way we ever could
Now we see everything that's going wrong
With the world and those who lead it
We just feel like we don't have the means
To rise above and beat it
So we keep waiting
(waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting
(waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
It's hard to beat the system
When we're standing at a distance
So we keep waiting
(waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
Now if we had the power
To bring our neighbors home from war
They would have never missed a Christmas
No more ribbons on their door
And when you trust your television
What you get is what you got
Cause when they own the information, oh
They can bend it all they want
That's why we're waiting
(waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting
(waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
It's not that we don't care,
We just know that the fight ain't fair
So we keep on waiting
(waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
And we're still waiting
(waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting
(waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
One day our generation
Is gonna rule the population
So we keep on waiting
(waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
Now we keep on waiting
(waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
