A.N THIS IS AFTER BTVS SEASON 7 AND DURING SEASON 2 OF SUPERNATURAL, A FEW WEEKS AFTER ‘SIMON SAID’.
JO HAS GONE ON HER OWN ALREADY FROM A FIGHT WITH HER MOTHER ABOUT HUNTING.
DISCLAIMER: I DON’T OWN BTVS OR SUPERNATURAL.
WARNING: HAS SWEARING ALSO MIGHT CHANGE RATING IF I DECIDE.
A.N DAWN IS 23 YEARS OLD, HER SON IS 7 YEARS OLD, AND SHE HAD HIM WHEN SHE WAS 16.
DEAN IS 27 YEARS OLD AND SAM IS 23 YEARS OLD.
“So let’s try this again. My name is Dawn and this is my son Jesse, and you are?” Dawn asked Sam and Dean.
“Wondering what your doing?” Dean said, taking charge while Sam glared at Dawn, wanting answers.
“Oh cranky, man sleep more,” Dawn joked back as Sam tried not to smile at Dean’s growing anger.
Dean gritted his teeth and asked at the slight déjà vu,
“Do I know you?”
“Erm, no, and to answer your question, I am here to work,” Dawn said, trying hard to be professional.
You see ever since the hellmouth was destroyed she tried to be a happy, fun mum for Jesse and let him have the best life that she could not have, even though he wasn’t exactly normal.
Sam looked at Ellen shocked at that fact, she allowed a stranger to work here.
“She works here?” Sam asked.
“Yeah, she needed the money and she knows Ash so I thought ‘what the hell’. And she’s great to have around especially since Jo left. I needed the help and you get free entertainment out of it too,” Ellen said, smirking at the ‘Hey’ Dawn gave.
“So how you know Ash,” Sam asked, know interested in how such a beautiful woman knew Ash, the typical rocker wannabe.
“Oh we go way back. I was his roommate in Boston, well that was until he got thrown out,” Dawn said, loving the shocked faces on the brothers faces. She shared a smirk with ash and then continued, “Yeah I went to MIT, shocking isn’t it? And me with a child?”
“Sorry, it’s just…well…we” Sam and Dean both said as they struggled to backtrack their expressions, that was until Dawn started to laugh.
“This so much fun, who knew having a child so young would so fun?” Dawn said, hugging Jesse quickly.
She turned round to clean the bar missing the smirks exchanged between the locals, while Sam and Dean just looked relieved at the dismissal.
“So how do you know Bobby?” Dean asked curiously as Jesse shivered.
Dawn turned round and said,
“Oh well me and him have done some jobs before and the reason Jesse doesn’t like him is the fact that he got possessed once while he was around.”
Seeing the concerned faces of the Winchesters’, she quickly continued, “Oh it was nothing to worry about just a low-level demon which could do much, but because Jesse was young he got a bit scare, but my sister was there. Jesse loves Bobby really; it’s just an act so he gets sympathy.”
“Well that and chocolate,” Jesse whispered, causing Dean to laugh at his attitude.
‘He is so like me, when I was young,’ Dean thought.
“So who’s your sister?” Dean asked.
“Buffy Summers, The slayer,” Dawn said.
“The slayer?” Dean and Sam said together.
Dawn groaned, but explained anyway.
“The vampire slayer, ‘In every generation there is a Chosen One. She alone will stand against
the vampires, the demons and the forces of darkness.’ Etc, etc” Dawn said, turning back round to clean glasses so she could ignore the shocked looks. “So can I get some names?”
“Oh, erm, yeah, I’m Sam and that’s Dean Winchester,” Sam said hesitantly, when Dawn dropped a glass all of a sudden.
That name caused Dawn’s heart to beat louder and faster with such strength that it was a surprise no-one heard it. She suddenly lost control of her hand as it got damp with sweat and then the glass just slowly slipped out of her hand in slow motion, until the CRASH of it landing on the floor brought everything to full speed.
Jesse jumped off the bar and rushed to his mum.
“Mum, mum you ok?” Jesse asked panicked, shaking his mum into reality.
“What? Oh Jesse, erm yeah I’m fine, just a bit sweating from all that running. I tell you what, why don’t you go and hustle this guy’s at pool,” Dawn said quickly, trying to get all eyes of her by distracting Jesse with his child innocence.
Dawn couldn’t bring herself to say the name ‘Dean Winchester’ without remembering the soft but passionate lips, which were always like fire, against hers.
Taking the bait just like a child should, Jesse took off towards the pool table pulling Dean and Sam along with him as they shared a look and then glanced at Dawn. All Dawn did was shrug and plaster on a fake smile.
Dawn then glared at the hunters, who were still staring at her, but they recognised the danger behind those brilliant blue eyes and turned round quietly chatting again.
Dawn turned around to clean up when someone grabbed her by the arm and pulled her into the back.
“Ash what are you do? I did to work,” Dawn said nervously, trying hard to avoid his knowing eyes.
As Ash lifted her head to look in his eyes, he said,
“Dawn, dude, I went to MIT I am not stupid. Are you going to tell him?”
“Tell who what?” Dawn said innocently, turning her eyes to the floor.
“Dawn please…”
“Fine, I hate that you know me so well,” Dawn said, hating his knowledge. “But how can I tell him, just sit him down and say, ‘Hey, here’s a beer and by the way Jesse, my son, is yours.’ How I am supposed to tell him that?”
“Not sure man, but Dean has the right to know,” Ash said, concerned but with a laid-back attitude at the same time.
“Yeah of course you’d say that you not the one that has to tell him,” Dawn whispered, and then an idea came into her head. “Unless…”
“No Dawn, you’re my best mate, but you have to do,” Ash said seriously.
She was about to tell her past love a major secret, she has kept for years that was bound to explode into massive drama.
“Oh God,” Dawn said as reality hit her.
Dawn started to cry as she rubbed her eyes in frustration and she was gathered in Ash’s arms for comfort as her hysteric sobs echoed the room.
The end for now
