Money, schmoney

I could be at the Denver Art Museum right now with a couple friends...but I recently revised my so-called budget, and even at an absolutely minimal level of expenses, I've maxed out my paid entertainment for the week...all of $6.25. Speaking of minimal expenses, I'm estimating that it costs me at least $1075 per month to get by these days (if you read this, please knock on wood for me :).

This morning I paid nearly $50 for a new wheel for my bike, which is actually about what I paid for the whole bike two years ago. On the other hand, $50 is 2.5 weeks' worth of gas (during the school year, that is), and I certainly use my bike on a near-daily basis when I'm not at school.

Yesterday I spent about $70 on groceries, which is more than double my usual weekly total. The reason: KP has convinced me to at least try eating healthier. I bought lettuce, potatoes, tofu and tomatoes for the first time in years, and yoghurt for the first time ever (not counting when I'd buy it for my now-ex-wife). Tonight's dinner was a salad with chopped up bits of pork (buy 1, get 1 free).

Still more time with KP the past few days; a helluva lot for the week. Very nice, but it stirs things that do *not* need stirring. Confuses and frustrates as much as delights, it seems; at any rate, it leaves me feeling needy, which I hate.

Still cranking out the technology article abstracts, at a $12/hr (or so) clip. Trying to cram in as much Sudbury work as possible before the SVS workshop in Boston next month, and reading Love in the Time of Cholera for my writing/book group.

Egh, back to work with me...
