Oh facebook, the source of so many woes

I think everyone has a love-hate relationship with facebook these days.  I'm pretty sure every single user of facebook has some sort of major beef with one feature or another, but we can't stop using it.  We hate seeing those dumb "suggestions from facebook", but we can't stand not knowing our friends' relationship status, or the pictures from the latest party, etc etc.

My particular beef with facebook these days is the status messages.  I think they should seriously put a word limit on that shit.  If they have one already, it's clearly not short enough.  It's not really a "status message" anymore when you're writing like 3 whole paragraphs describing your thoughts on gay marriage, or listing every ingredients in the dinner you just ate, or a shout-out to every single person who came to your birthday party last weekend.  I'm talking about those people who do this on an hourly basis (literally!) - like, they post this kind of shit 4-5 times a day!

I mean, how self-obsessed do you have to be to assume that anyone with anything to do at all would find any of that crap even remotely interesting?  Especially given that only like 30% of the people on facebook are people you actually give a crap about.  The rest are those random people you met in some intro level class and friended so you could ask them about the homework assignment.  I certainly don't need to see 5 different status updates by some chick my friend used to date.  Ugh, I never even liked her that much to begin with.
