In honor of All Hallow’s Eve, I’m inviting trick-or-treaters to my ‘door.’ Comment “trick-or-treat” to this post and…well, you know the drill. Treats can be anything that strikes my fancy (pics of fave actors or pairings, one sentence fics, graphics, a few words why I’m glad to have you on my flist, etc. etc.). Ben looked up from his laptop, slightly annoyed to have been interrupted while writing a pivotal scene in his latest Star Trek fan fic, to see his wife waving a book in his face, her eyes wide with fury.
He was momentarily bewildered until he noticed the tell tale dewey decimal code on the side of the book. Before he could find the right words to defend himself, his wife spoke again.
"Did. You. Go. To. The. LIBRARY?" His wife said, very slowly and deliberately, her teeth grinding in between every word as she clearly tried to hold her rage in check.
"It wasn't the Pawnee Library," Ben blurted out, unwilling to look his wife in the eyes. "It was the Bloomington Library. You can check inside the book."
Leslie opened the book and gave the inside cover a cursory glance, before letting out a "hmmph."
"I would NEVER go to the Pawnee Library Leslie, you know I wouldn't," Ben pleaded, still not looking at his wife. "I wouldn't have gone to a library at all, but I'm in a Settlers of Catan tournament tomorrow night, and I wanted to brush up on my strategy. Andy destroyed my copy of Catan Settler or Catan King? and none of the bookstores in Pawnee had it in stock."
Ben noticed that he couldn't hear his wife grinding her teeth together anymore and risked a glance at her face. Her facial expression was wavering between anger and amusement.
"I'll let you off the hook this time. But I NEVER want to see a library book in this house again. Do you understand me?"
"Yes. No more library books." Ben replied, happy that he had gotten off that easily.
"Now for your punishment."
Ben gulped.
"It will take place in the bedroom." Leslie gave him a mischievous smile and set off down the hall in the direction of their bedroom.
Ben thought that the punishment didn't sound like it would be so bad after all.
