Working Again :-D

B"H, I'm working again! Last week I was called to go on an interview with California University of Pennsylvania. When I applied, I had no idea that the job was with them. I answered a Craigslist ad that called for an "Executive Assistant". Turns out that I was already registered with the temp agency that posted the position, and did not need to go in to them for testing or an interview. I had my interview on Tuesday morning and they called me that afternoon to start on Thursday! Now officially, I am a temp, but the man I am working for basically said "Apply through the school because I need someone permanently".

I am so excited about this! Especially since everyone is all doom and gloom about the economy and my unemployment claim came back with "we have questions for you" (blah, blah). Thank G-d I don't need to deal with that; and thank G-d I have some cash flow again! Just in the nick of time too.

The pay is a little less than what I was making with the title insurance job in Miami. But the cost of living is a lot less here. Also, I get the perk of free tuition if I can get into the graduate program there. I was thinking of applying there, but did not. I was still undecided about their MBA program because its small and not as well-known. But my old boss got her MBA from there, and given what I would like to do (small business; not Fortune 500 corporate) it will be fine. And "free" makes it more than fine.

My only concern is if I will be able to do this job. I have never been an "Executive Assistant" before. On one hand, I wonder how hard it can be, but then I met some of the other executive assistants to the school's VPs, and these ladies have had their jobs for 20+ years and are like "super secretaries". Also I never had a burning desire to become a glorified administrative assistant, but the pay really is not bad and the benefits and hours are great (M-F, 8am to 4pm). Plus, at least it's in the IT department, where I am surrounded by laid back, non-pretentious men (I prefer to work around men). So surprisingly, I am looking forward to this!
