Bah, humbug! I've got 10% of good coming my way!

Why did I get this? Really, I was filling the HR manager in about one of my other colleagues, whose contract is up for renewal. And then he asked me if I had any ideas what I was going to do after September (when my contract officially ends). So I said I'd be staying at least till February (saving salary stuff for later). When I'd just gotten back to my office he called me back upstairs, checked if no one was lurking/listening in, and told me that 'Job and he had just been talking and they figured I'd been doing such an awesome job, that I deserved to give myself (financial wizz that I am) a 10% payrise'.
