What I did not give up for Lent...
...Live journal. I'm sorry- I've been so busy lately, I've barely had time to skim through everyone's entries, much less post my own. And I hated it! Not posting, that is. But I'm back- just procrastinating from doing the HUGE amount of homework that awaits me.
I spent the weekend at my sister Jill's, which was lots of fun. I drove in Friday afternoon and we went to get her wedding dress altered, which was exciting, and this really nice Russian lady helped us. She didn't know English very well, but she just seemed so professional. I think foreigners are better seamstresses or something. : ) Then we went and hung out with Patrick and a bunch of their friends from Christendom at Matt and Jan's (two of their friends who got married this past summer) very cute appartment. Then we went to see the Passion again-- you have to see it at LEAST twice. And you have to make yourself watch everything, because I closed my eyes a lot the first time. It's just as amazing the second time, if not more powerful. I think I cried more this time.
On Saturday we woke up, went to Mass, went shopping, came back to Jill's appartment and hung out, Patrick came over with his friend Joe to fix Jill's car, then all the bridesmaids (except for one, who lives in Burbank, CA) came over and we talked and ate good food and helped Jill stuff her 260 wedding invitations. It was so great. On the way home, Jamie Dresch and I stopped at Old Navy because I wanted a $5 St.Patrick's Day shirt, and I ended up getting two linen skirts for work (they are so wonderful!) and she got some pants to work out in. It was so much fun! I got these great sandals a couple days ago that will look very cute with my khaki linen skirt. I've given up looking sophisticated and decided I just have to look cute instead. I think Dazey is rubbing off on me. (She will LOVE the shoes...)
Now I have to go prepare a presentation for my Keats Oscar Wilde class that's due Tuesday, write a paper for the same class that's due next week--but it's due the day after the Great Big Sea concert, so I have to write it now, and study for my two midterms this week. And it's such a beautiful day, it's going to be hard to stay inside. I'll just have to study out in the Campion Field across from my dorm.
I'm counting the days until this next weekend. Or more exactly, until Sunday night. This weekend is going to be hard to get through because I'll just want Sunday to come. And then ANNIE AND MATT WILL BE HERE!!! yea!! I've been listening to Great Big Sea's CD "Road Rage" all week because it's live and it's getting me in the mood to be at a concert just like all those crazy people on the CD. I think I'm going to have to get my picture taken with the band-- maybe sitting on one of their laps, to add to my collection of "Joannie sitting on the lap the lead singer of a wonderful band she adores" pictures. Okay, so I only have one. But it's a start.
