Can it be February already?

Yes, unfortunately. Holidays are over, and it's time to get serious again. At least the official Summer has only one more month to go, we have already had a couple of cooler nights amongst the horrible humid ones. No wonder everyone is getting Summer colds with the changeable weather.

Now the good news. The historic house costumes aren't needed for 2 weeks, and the fitting I had with the house guides went well. I also made and wore my costume for Australia Day and it was so comfortable. We had a smaller number of visitors than usual, the other historic house which was open closest to us was not free entry this time. We think this impacted on our flow on rate.  However the visitors who DID come were very complimentary about my outfit and I think the house guides at THIS house might be persuaded to frock up eventually.

Today I went to a workshop put on by the Australian Costumers' Guild at Glebe in Sydney. 6 people fitted their corset mock ups under the expert guidance of our President who flew in from South Australia for the weekend. I was pleasantly surprised that mine needed very little alteration, which was so lucky since I did no alterations to the pattern. That must be the advantage of being 20 kg heavier than my ideal "weight for height" ,  a squishy body. I purchased a busk and some German plastic boning from our President too, I have some recycled metal bones so now I only have to organise the grommets and a fashion fabric to go with my coutil left over from my College days. Hoarding does have its advantages you see... everything is useful eventually, LOL.  I was lucky to get a car ride to the station, and after walking along the underground tunnel, hopped on my home train 4 minutes later. Home in time for a late tea, then an early bedtime tonight ready for a Lace Day tomorrow with 60 plus other enthusiasts.
