I find it very hard to get back into normal routine after the Christmas / New Year period, even though my kids have been out of school for about 4 years now I still find myself taking a 5 week holiday at this time of year. That means that most of my regular friends and acquaintances have already swung back to their routines, especially now that I have so many "net" friends overseas. Because we Aussies have a Summer holiday over Christmas I'm sure they think I'm a real sloth (and they're not that far wrong!) when I say I can't get back to regular habits just yet ! Problem is, I have to teach a free class next week to 14 kids ( bit of a PR exercise for out Emb. Guild) and then the following week a smaller paid class at the Guild itself. I NEED to get back into the yoke, but I don't feel I've had a holiday yet, because DH hasn't been feeling up to driving anywhere too far away ! Guess I have to learn to take mental breaks at home from now on, this could be the pattern for the future, or start saving for a "retreat" or two with other textile people. They hold quilting and embroidery ones all the time, perhaps we could suggest a Costume Guild one in the future , wouldn't that be great, we could do some workshops, party, share stories and ideas..... Of course, a lot of the members are uni students and the like, so probably couldn't afford it, but hey, one has to have dreams !!!
