I've finally finished all my most urgent projects, including the costumes for the Performing Arts Studio show which was on Monday. Today I made a very quick and easy blouse for a client and that has been collected too. Monday night DD2 and I went to the Show, it was really interesting to see a lot of my older costumes up on stage as well, I make 'em to last, you know! LOL.
I've been making costumes for Davin for 7 years now, including talent quests, club shows, characters for children's shows, and of course my "specials" which are usually character based for his end of year spectacular. This year I made Beetlejuice and 4 German show girls for Springtime for Hitler. You can see photos on my personal blog at

Sewing for dance is a whole different ball game, with allowances for quick changes as well as flexibility always a consideration. It makes a change from historical reproductions, but I enjoy the research for both types of costuming.
Of course, now the DD is thinking of going back to dance lessons, she started about 12 years ago when a studio was within walking distance to home. Of my 3 daughters she was the one who stuck it out, dancing Folkloric in Perth when she was younger, and then with Davin at performances all around Sydney, and even cheerleading for Netball at one stage. She's been involved in the Talent Quest circuit, been a backing dancer for Davin at a reputable Italian supper club in Leichhardt, Sydney and of course performed in 5 of his spectacular end of year shows. It must be hard to see the dancers on stage and wish you were one of them, I know when I see the adults dance I think..mmm...could I do that? Not that I have an Talent in THAT department, hey, I don't even COOK. I sew, embroider and do millinery. Oh, and lately I've been doing a spot of Guest Speaker duties (sometimes attracting payment!) which is easy when you are passionate about your subject.
I'm sooo looking forward to finishing with all the Christmas parties and just having some quiet time with my family, and hopefully DH and I can slip away for a few days to Canberra or even Bathurst for a break. It will all depend on his health, and I guess mine too, but probably the break will do us both a lot of good.
