don't you think it is deeper than that? i'd rather be suicide bombed than held down and raped while my family was getting killed in the next room...then shot and burnt myself...by people that could walk away and then BBQ chicken...at least the suicide bomber is making there own sacrifice. and they do that in response to the huger military command and supplies of another warring country...
i guess i can't say i would rather anything...but i can't think of that story and not see my BEAUTIFUL, KIND, BRILLIANT daughter and not be outraged to no end. there is no excuse.
everyone who dies in a war, or kills in war, is somebody's something (father, son, daughter, mother) and it just fuels the vendetta. we have been perfecting ways to communicate, we have more ways to send messages than ever before, and talk and express our points of view, all kinds of training on issues and so on...but when it comes down to it, all we can think of is shooting and bombing and genocide...
and it all points at our current cabinet that not only allows, but encourages and enforces the destruction of anything in the way of its agenda!
the female reporter that got taken captive by the iraqis, while she was very frightened and held against her will, was treated with respect to her gender, she was not harmed or raped or shot or tortured...in fact they let her watch TV and cooked her good meals. that is playing war by the rules...what do we do? we hold shame festivals in cuba and even the women join in, in the humiliation and emasculation of the prisoners.
i hate the face we put forth in the world. i hate that we are always being held accountable for the actions of the psychotic folks with weapons and power and greed...i want them to go away!
but your right, no bombs...NO more wars...
i could go on and on...but just look at that face i posted and tell me that any war can be good...there are no safeguards in war.
There is a difference in acts of war, and acts of horror.
Raping a girl, murdering her and her entire family is an act of horror, not war. The story that unfolded in Iraq, when U.S soldiers enacted such an act of terror that I cannot fathom the victims last moments, is one of people exercising power and fear over victims. Made all the more blood curdling is the fact, that this act was perpetrated over people whom the soldiers took forth to protect.
One can only wonder how many other tales of genuine terror are being kept silent, or have been silented by blade and bullet. I can say, that if this has happened once, it must have happened more than once. When people already fear those who claim to protect them, this can only add more fear to the already overwhelming emotional burden.
All I can do is hope and pray for a quick end to the turmoil in this country, but we all know it is not coming. When horror happens in north America, people make tribute CDs, concerts, and movies, when it happens in the middle east it is a sound bite in between McDonald's commercials and sports scores. If we are to truly end terror we must all care, and all wish for the world to heal and for poverty and inequality to be ended.
yep. war = insanity unchecked. no more prisoners, no more suicide bombs, no more repression, no more kidnappings. how about a list of things which piss people off most, submitted to the UN so we can start to understand each other!
i am not sure i understand, are you being cheeky, or sincere?
i really don't care if men (and women who want to) go off to some remote unihabited place and spend 10 years blowing each other to smithereens if that is how they get their jollies...but my main problem with war is that innocent bystanders pay, which perpetuates the war and of course fucks up kids and moms and dads and so on. palestine is a nation, i believe w/ PTSD...we can grasp that when it is a viet nam vet, or battered woman, but we need to apply it to the nations that have had generations watching the tragedies of war...if war was held in a no mans land it would ease things considerably i think...and cull the herd.
no - i'm being sincere. i wasn't aware of the details of the rape case, although i followed it in bits and pieces over t the daily news feeds. awful.
as for war...i really think we need each nation to make a list of things which they desire and things which piss them off, then work to understand each other because i think we'll all find that we want and fear the same things. then we can work a little close to peace.

AMEN!!! we all probably just want to grow our kids, live our lives and pursue our goals...now if more leaders would just recognize that and let us do our lil thing...wow!
i followed the article and try to keep it in my head...i can't let it just be another soundbite in my life...my daughter, the one pictured above...she is lovely, no? and has the sweetest heart...i just see her when i think of the other girl...she was a baby! it really hurts me like i haven't hurt for a world cause before, and i have seen many...i am glad you understand!
BTW congrats on the wedding! i did not know ya'll had jumped the broom! :)
