No more chanting "PU-RI-KYU-A PU-RI-KYU-A" during the theme song, I bet

YTV is premiering Pretty Cure on March 6th! Haaaa. I've been wondering how the dub is going to turn out since I am not moe enough to be either Nagisa or Hono-- I mean, Natalie or Hannah. The world needs more magical girl shows! Spread the love, I say!

And, of course, cue the obligatory choruses of crazy fans crying "Ew, it's gonna be in english? But Japanese is always better" or "They're not using honorifics what is this noise" or "You can't localize their names! You don't care about us TRUE FANS you RUIN EVERYTHING stupid dubbers" blah blah blah. I dunno if that's actually going to happen, but man, no matter the demographic, I always see some people throwing a hissyfit whenever something is dubbed.

Oh! So, at Otafest this year, a local anime convention, I am going to do some honest to goodness cosplay! Ayup, I ordered a costume and everything (don't look at me like that, I would gladly sew if only I could). It was a close call between some character choices, but I'm going to be Akira Kogami from Lucky Star. It's like I channel her when I'm at work, so who else would be a better fit?

Mind, I did dither between Madotsuki from Yume Nikki and Rena from Higurashi (I'd get a knife/cleaver!), but I'm also gunning on doing a monologue in the cosplay competition this year, something I've always wanted to try, and Akira's just better for that. I'm a natural at going from sickeningly sweet to "I'll kill you all!", so she'd be a riot to play. I had a backup skit written for Rena, but it lacked the energy of the Akira one, and though I'd love to do somethin' weird with Madotsuki, I'm guessing not many people would know who I am.

Just throwin' that out there. Anyway!

My dad had a band concert this morning, so my mum and I went. Riveting! His band was performing in the Alberta International Band Festival, actually, which I've done several years previous. Gracious but do I miss my trumpet.

The performance itself was okay, I guess. We saw the Calgary Stetson Show Band, a very kickin' marching group, perform first, and that was certainly entertaining. My dad's band was up next, and since they're far less experienced, it was notably more subdued. The last song they did drove me bonkers; a march, which normally I love, but the snare drummer couldn't keep a beat to save their life! One TWO one TWO one TWO ONE two ONE TWO ONE two one two ONE one one one... So distracting, and then the rest of the band got thrown off by the dodgy percussion. I can sympathize, 'cause they were likely real nervous on stage with the bright lights and the people staring and the judges, but dangit, I love me some good march percussion and I get sad when it goes awry!

Guess who preordered Pokemon Platinum? Now, the question is, do I try to remake my Diamond team, or go with something new? Hmm, though I am not keen on the notion of giving up my Infernape, Crobat or Golem... Perhaps I shall put some thought into this.
